Cheryle joined Lilliput Children's Services in 1994 and has been a social work supervisor since 1998. She helped to develop the agency's cultural competency and positive parenting modules, and leads a transracial adoption support group for the community, “It Takes A Village”. These efforts have helped the public understand that many barriers to adoption have been removed and that more children are available to families wishing to adopt. In addition, Cheryle has led & co-led trainings on transitioning children when they move to adoptive homes from foster care, maintaining birth family connections for children in the child welfare system, infertility assessment, cultural competency assessment of adoptive families and “Clinical Issues in Adoption”, a six session training for therapists in Northern California. She also has presented at national & local conferences such as NACAC and CWLA on many of the aforementioned topics. She is a consultant to other foster family agencies in Northern California that are setting up adoption programs. Cheryle has been a social work field work supervisor to multiple social work students and is a 2003 participant in Leadership Sacramento sponsored by the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Cheryle earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley, a Masters in
Social Work from the University of Chicago, and obtained her LCSW in October of
1997. |
