Advanced Searching Techniques

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

adoption books
finds documents containing either of the phrases 'adoption' or 'books'

adoption or books
same as above

adoption and books
finds documents containing both 'adoption' and 'books'

adoption not books
finds documents containing 'adoption' but not 'books'

(adoption not books) and support
finds documents containing 'support', plus 'adoption' but not 'books'

adopt*
finds documents containing words starting with 'adopt'
