Research in recent years identifies the negative impacts of foster care on a child’s healthy development.
In addition to being separated from their birth parents, children are often disconnected from siblings,
extended family, friends, community and their culture of origin when they enter care.
The impact of multiple placements and moves while in foster care further compounds the immeasurable loss
these children must face when they leave behind meaningful relationships.
Emergency Foster Family Homes Needed!
Emergency foster homes are available 24-hours a
day to take children in and provide a safe harbor with little or no advance
notice. Children will be placed with these families immediately
following removal from their current home, which allows children to have a
caring interim family home until more permanent arrangements can be made.
Emergency foster parents will be trained to meet the needs of all
children from birth to 17 years of age, including those who are
medically fragile and non-ambulatory, and will accept sibling groups in
order to keep them together.
