NACAC (North American Council on Adoptable Children)NACAC (www.nacac.org) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting adoptive parents, promoting adoption awareness, informing adoption professionals, and helping children find permanent, loving families. Serving parents and professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada, NACAC publishes material, conducts training, advocates for system change, and provides support related to: Adoption support and preservation, parent group development, adoption subsidies, adoptive and foster parent recruitment, transracial/transcultural parenting, child welfare system reform, kinship care concurrent planning. NACAC also holds the most comprehensive adoption conference in North America. In Minnesota, NACAC recruits foster and adoptive parents and provides peer support to adoptive families.

| United Friends of the Children College Sponsorship Program - UFC provides support services to more than 2,000 current and former foster youth each year, working to provide them with the opportunity to finish high school, find housing, attend college and build the skills to support themselves. The organization’s programs address the most tangible needs of foster youth while also encouraging them to explore issues of identity, trust, self-esteem, communication and emotional well-being. | |
| Casey Family Scholars Scholarship - Casey Family Programs’ mission is to provide and improve—and ultimately to prevent the need for—foster care. They provide direct services, and promote advances in child-welfare practice and policy. | ADD/ADHD Resources - This site offers information about ADD/ADHD to parents and professionals. There are many free articles about the disorder, diagnosis, treatment, and long term effects. The site also has a newsletter and provider directory to locate professionals who treat/coach individuals with ADHD. Requires a membership fee for most information/newsletters/advice. Workshops and support services are central to the Washington area. Information is relevant for professionals who would like to list themselves as providers and individuals with ADHD or parents who are looking for information, support, services, and training. | |
