As the holiday season comes to an end and a brand new year is upon us, many of us are looking ahead to a bright and wonderful new start! What better way to celebrate this new year than establishing some new year's resolutions.

With more than 60,000 children in the California foster care system, together we all have a lot of work ahead of us to help the most vulnerable group in our communities. 1 in 5 of children in the California foster care system will turn 18 while in care and age out of foster care without a family to call their own. We can do better than that, and it all starts with all of us spreading awareness and helping where we can. This year, let's put foster/adoption in our new year's resolutions. Here are our top 5 foster/adoption new year’s resolutions!

Take some time to learn more about foster/adoption so that you can become a community advocate

Adopting through the California foster care system (more commonly referred to as foster to adoption) is an alternative to traditional adoption, where families adopt directly through the foster care system. This alternative is much cheaper than the traditional route and also helps some of our most vulnerable children in our communities who need our help the most. Learn more about our foster to adoption services.

Spread awareness about adoption through social media

Research and spread the word on your social media accounts, get others involved and encourage them to become advocates as well. If you are an adoptive parent, share your story and any personal experiences with adoption and encourage others to take action the best way they can.

Attend a foster to adoption parent orientation meeting

We invite you to learn more about becoming a foster or adoptive resource parent, sign up now for our next resource family approval orientation class.

Get involved by becoming a donor

Investing in our children today will positively impact our communities tomorrow. All donations and gifts are tax-deductible, as allowed by law. Every dollar counts, and we make sure to use all contributions wisely to support our work with children and families. Make a donation today.
