Dear Camp ALWAYS Families,
It is with a heavy heart I announce that Lilliput Families will not be offering Camp ALWAYS this year. As a past camp participant, we understand that this news may sadden you. Adopt A Special Kid (AASK) started this camp several years ago and brought it to Lilliput when they joined forces with us a few years ago.
Camp ALWAYS is a program that is near and dear to our hearts, as well as to the hearts of the approximately 33 families who join us each year to connect, rejuvenate and celebrate adoption. This made this decision particularly difficult for us.
I want to make you aware of the other supports that we offer to adoptive families through our Post Adoption Services program. We contract with the state and some counties to offer services in 19 Northern California counties. We also offer a Monday to Friday “warm line” for adoptive families who need help accessing services and supports or want information about our services (800) 325-5359.
While we will not be offering camp this year, we are committed to offering support to families through our warm line, and to continuing our post adoption program through local family activities, support groups and workshops in many communities and social platforms. Moving forward, we also anticipate online training opportunities to make access to resources more accessible. More information is available on our website about the services we offer to adoptive families. You can also follow us on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LilliputChildrensServices), sign up for email updates at email@example.com or call us at (800) 325-5359 for more information.
This year marks 38 years of service to children and families for Lilliput. We feel blessed to play such a critical role in so many young lives and families. As we change and evolve as an agency, there is one constant that you can count on – we will not stop until every child has the opportunity to be part of a safe, nurturing, lifelong family. We will continue to advocate for the support families need and deserve when they journey through our foster care system and step up to become adoptive parents. When you step up, so do we.
