You will never be alone on
this journey.
We’ve worked hard to create a community of adoptive families to act as a natural support system, reducing feelings of isolation and emotional stress, and encouraging social connections and authentic peer advice.
What are post adoption services?
Lilliput offers a variety of support groups, classes and social events for families in many of the communities we serve. We are fortunate to have solid partnerships with our public agency partners, offering comprehensive Post Adoption Service programs in nineteen counties throughout Northern California. Contact the post adoption worker serving your community to determine which services are available in your area. Services may include:
- Warmline
- Support and Discussion Groups
- Family Consultation
- Resource Libraries and Trainings
- Information and Referrals
- Social Events
- Family Funding to support child activities, therapeutic and respite needs
- Advocacy
SOME THOUGHTS ON HOW POST ADOPTION SERVICES CAN HELP, FROM PARENTS WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN OUR CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS GROUP
“As an adoptive mom you get lost with your children – I.E.P.’s, therapy, adjustments, etc. By coming to this class it helps me to think of myself and get refreshed.”
“As adoptive parents, we are constantly looking for avenues to find time for calmness and grace. Using a paint brush or some type of art medium finds that place in me, allowing me to be the best me and parent I can be.”
“This is like a reverie for me; truly a respite from the ‘regular’ worries of parenthood as well as the additional components of what difficult adoption stories bring to a family.”
“So much information and therapy is geared towards kids as it should…however as parents we need time to process this new life. It is a place where you feel safe, connected and free to express."
